Весеннее обострение

Вдоль дороги из Эрегиона к Вратам Мории росли holly trees (падубы то есть). У самих Врат ещё два таких оставалось:
But close under the cliff there stood, still strong and living, two tall trees, larger than any trees of holly that Frodo had ever seen or imagined. Their great roots spread from the wall to the water. Ну, и тварюга, что в озере жила, поломала деревья-то с воротами заодно.

А вот интересно: эльфы в Эрегионе не живут с середины Второй эпохи, это к моменту событий LotR тысяч пять лет, наверное. Такие долгоживущие были деревья? Может, из Валинора семена прислали?
